Look Out Alcohol
Lancashire Trading Standards
http://www.lookoutalcohol.co.uk
Brief
Lancashire Trading Standards required a resource that would teach children aged 7-11 about alcohol. They wanted something that would be cost effective and have longevity. The resource would need to have facilities for children, teachers and parents.
Solution
We proposed creating a website as it would have the sustainability Lancashire Trading Standards would require whilst accommodating all of their audiences. We understood that children
don't want to be preached to but at the same time there were some important messages to get across. We created a game where children were given the objective to find and photograph small friendly aliens. The aliens were discovered by children reading information and answering a related question about alcohol. This interactive and fun way of learning was found to be a success and won the Young People’s Involvement Category in the Mentor UK CHAMP Awards 2008 (Promoting Children’s Health through Alcohol Misuse Prevention).
The concept and design was developed by our in house designers whilst out educational specialists wrote the content.
Parents and teachers were catered for with advice on how to use the site with a as well as lesson plans and homework activity sheets. We felt it was important that the child was supported at home as well as in the school environment.
