AIM

The RNLI challenged d2 Digital to create a resource that would educate and inform young people, aged 5-14 years old, on water safety.

 

HOW WE RESPONDED

Shorething, an interactive website, was produced by combining creative and educational expertise. Colourful and attractive, it is tailor-made to reinforce the messages of the RNLI and designed specifically for use by young people as well as their parents, carers and teachers.

The Shorething resource includes games, animated activities and quizzes that allow children to have fun whilst learning about staying safe in and around the waters of the UK. A mix of educational information and persuasive technologies are employed to support behaviour change and to encourage young people to embrace key RNLI safety messages.

Shorething is highly accessible to teachers and provides numerous resources including in-depth lesson plans and guidance on how to educate young people on these issues.  All provide consistency in learning in both school and at home, and a holistic approach to learning that will help promote the messages of the RNLI.
