At d2 the office is buzzing as our favorite financial capability resource Fun to Save has just been awarded the PFEG quality mark.
Fun to Save is an exciting and engaging free teaching resource, designed for children aged 5-7 (KS1) to learn about money and introduce the concept of saving.

Described by Dan Fyles (Editor at Topicbox) as “Perfect for integration into lessons - simple, fun and not remotely annoying, even over time!”
The project was commissioned by the Association of Financial Mutuals (then AMI) and developed by d2 Digital – Specialists in digital strategy, specialist content and web services.
Fun to Save was launched in June last year during ‘My money week’ amid national press coverage. Since then the financial capability resource has received some excellent feedback from teachers, pupils and evaluators alike and was described by the PFEG evaluator as…
“A truly comprehensive resource for KS1 teachers that will keep the children occupied and learning for hours.”
The simple money based games and animated characters have been designed to engage with children and when used on an interactive whiteboard, provides stimulus for discussion and debate that will really get children thinking about the benefits of saving and test their financial capability.
The entire resource has been built to support the national curriculum in the areas of PSHE, ICT and Mathematics and also can be used as part of the Curriculum for Excellence in Scottish Education.
Fun to Save has been designed by teachers for teachers and includes a variety of additional resources including downloadable work-cards, suggestions for further work and ideas for trips and extra activities.
“As an exponent of personal financial education in primary schools, I think this resource is brilliant. I’ve actually enjoyed the challenge of the games myself.” Assessor at PFEG – Click here to read the full review
Riding on the back of this success, a new KS 2 financial capability resource is in the pipeline and due to be launched at the end of this month so watch this space!
